iyaKIN facilitators are steeped in anti-racist practices which include awareness of our conscious and unconscious biases and exercising trauma-sensitive language to hold safer space for students. We teach from the lens of holding more inclusive space to make the practice of yoga adaptable to different bodies.

We’re committed to cultivating safer mixed spaces, and are open to all racial and gender identities and all sexual orientations. Although we do center the bodies and voices of those most often underrepresented, including black, indigenous, women of color, trans and lgbtq+ communities.

Although rooted in the Indian origins of yoga, the program offers modern approaches to the practice. Including post-traumatic growth strategies, stress management techniques, modern psychology, and more to support the social and emotional wellbeing of our trainees working in high-trauma, high-stress environments.

At iya, we de-prioritize perfecting poses, and educate practitioners on evidence-based yoga practices that will guide their bodies out of fight/flight and into their rest/digest center to live better.
